Who we are

Money Type Quiz (“we”, “us”) operates moneytypequiz.net (the “Site”). This policy explains what information we collect, why, and the choices you have. Questions? Contact us via our contact page or at hello@moneytypequiz.net.

Quiz answers stay on your device

Quizzes run entirely in your browser. Your answers and results are calculated locally and saved in your browser's local storage so you can revisit your result. They are not sent to our servers. You can delete them at any time by clearing your browser's site data. If you create a “compare with a friend” link, the link contains your result type and, only if you type it, your first name, so the person you send it to can see them.

Information you choose to give us

• Email signup (“Get your full report”). If you submit your email, we store it with the quiz and result type you were viewing. This is collected using Netlify Forms, a service of Netlify, Inc., which stores submissions on our behalf. We use it to send you your report and occasional money tips. We may later move our list to an email service provider (such as ConvertKit/Kit, Beehiiv or Mailchimp) to send those emails. Every email includes an unsubscribe link.
• Contact form. If you contact us, we receive your name, email, topic and message (also via Netlify Forms) and use them only to respond.

We never sell your personal information, and we never ask for bank details, account numbers or government IDs.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use a small number of cookies and browser storage items:

• Essential: remembering your cookie choice, your light/dark theme preference and your latest quiz result (local storage). These are needed for the Site to work as you expect.
• Analytics (only with consent where required): Google Analytics 4 cookies that help us understand which quizzes and articles are useful.
• Advertising (only with consent where required): cookies set by Google AdSense and its advertising partners, used to serve and measure ads.

We use Google Consent Mode v2. For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, analytics and advertising storage are denied by default until you choose “Accept all”. You can change your choice at any time: Cookie settings.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to measure aggregate usage, such as page views, quiz starts and completions, which result types are most common, share button clicks and affiliate link clicks. These events contain no names, emails or quiz answers. Google processes this data according to its own policies; learn more at How Google uses information from sites that use its services. You can also install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Advertising (Google AdSense and third-party vendors)

We may show ads served by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this Site and/or other sites on the Internet. You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, and you can opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info/choices or, in the EU, youronlinechoices.eu. If ad storage is denied, Google may still show non-personalized ads. We may switch to or add other advertising partners in the future (for example Raptive or Mediavine), in which case this policy will be updated.

Affiliate links

Some links to financial products are affiliate links. When you click one, the partner (or its affiliate network) may set a cookie to attribute any signup to us so we can earn a commission. We record that an affiliate link was clicked (the category and page, not who you are) in our analytics. See our affiliate disclosure.

Hosting and logs

The Site is hosted by Netlify, which processes technical data such as IP addresses and browser information in server logs to deliver and secure the Site.

How long we keep data

We keep email addresses until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them, and contact messages for as long as needed to respond and keep a reasonable record. Analytics data is retained according to our Google Analytics retention setting (14 months by default).

Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR, UK GDPR and US state laws such as the CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal information, to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. We do not sell or “share” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising except through the advertising cookies described above, which you can refuse. To make a request, use our contact form and choose “Privacy request”. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Our legal bases (for EU/UK visitors) are consent (analytics, advertising cookies and email signup), and our legitimate interests in operating and securing the Site.

Children

The Site is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
